Setting Your Dials In The Morning

Setting Your Dials In The Morning

What is your morning practice?  If you awaken every morning, then you have one, so take a moment and think about it .. What is yours? It may be that you awaken with great gusto for the new day ahead. If this is the case, you probably also know that you possess the ability to SHAPE that gusto in any way you want so as to maximize the greatness of your day.

Many of us, however, awaken with some challenging emotions and thoughts that have arisen while we allowed ourselves to let down our guard and sleep. While we are awake, most of us are able to direct our thoughts in the direction of what our conscious mind is focusing on: brushing our teeth, getting ready for work, getting breakfast on the table, the presentation we are giving this afternoon, getting the kids off to school, etc. But while we are asleep our subconscious minds get to come out and play, and boy do they like to reek havoc on the stability we have created for ourselves! Whether you remember your dreams or not, do you know that the emotional tone of what you’d been dreaming stays with you upon awakening? Well, it does!

Think of it like this: Your subconscious mind is very much like the hard drive on your personal computer. It records and stores absolutely everything it receives, and it receives EVERYTHING - every single thought and feeling of the person in whose womb you gestated, through every single event, feeling, and lesson to which you have been exposed ever since. All of it is, literally, recorded into your cellular memory and stays there waiting to be activated by challenges that pop up for you in any given moment. We call these TRIGGERS. Something you see or hear reminds you of something that is stored in your cellular memory and WHAM, you are reacting (on a scale of 0-10) at an 8, when the situation is really not that severe at all. Similarly, when you sleep, the stirrings of these cellular memories awaken to infiltrate your dreams with messages for you. If you remember your dreams, at least you will know where your disturbing feelings (and, of course, your good ones) came from. If you don’t remember them, however, all you know is that you feel “weird,” “off,” “anxious,” “upset,” or some other form of not very good.

Add to this that, while you sleep, you are also hooked into the The Collective Unconscious that comes to party along with your subconscious, and you have quite the mess to clean up in the morning .. especially now with all the acute havoc being reeked in our world.

There are two main reasons a Morning Practice is essential to the success of your day. [1] It will clean up the mess of the party your Subconscious and Unconscious Minds had while you slept and [2] It will Set Your Dials to deliberately create what it is you want for your day.

Countless teachers, including Deepak Chopra and Andrew Harvey, say that it is only with a deliberate Morning Practice that you can be the best you can possibly be.

Where To Start: [A] If you already know some sort of meditation, go ahead and start with that. At least 10 minutes right upon awakening (20 is better). If you do not yet know how to meditate, there are countless methods out there on the web. I suggest starting with simple breathing while using a mantra to hold your focus. You can use a mantra like, “I am love.” or you can use a Sanskrit or Hebrew mantra. These languages are said to hold tremendous power to effect your energetic system. A mantra like “So Hum” (Sanskrit) or “Yah Vey” (Hebrew) will bring tremendous balance and peace to both your body and your mind. [B] Step Two is that you Deliberately FILL your system with high vibration frequencies. The easiest way to do this is to imagine sunlight pouring down through the top of your head into every single cell of your entire being. Please imagine this right now (it only takes a few seconds) ☀️

Good!! You feel different, don’t you?! A little calmer .. a little warmer .. dare I say, a little happier! Yes? Okay, so the only thing you may want to add to this potent combination is Step [3] which is to Make An ‘I Am ..” statement that reflects how you deliberately want to live your day. Something like, “I am radiant, confident, and capable of doing everything I set out to do today,” and/or “I am in great grounded connection to my community.” Access Consciousness has a great statement they suggest using every morning that says, “All Of Life Comes To Me With Ease And Joy And Glory!” Try saying THAT ten times and not feeling better! It’s not possible!

What To Do From Here: Make a commitment to taking anywhere from 15-30 minutes every single morning to Set Your Dials in this way. If you feel you need or want more time, that’s great. Go for it. 15-30 is just the minimum of what will work in your favor. This is one of the main tenets of Self-Care that is guaranteed to change your life for the better. The world DOES need you. Why not show up with your very best foot forward at the onset of every day? Try it! I guarantee you’ll LIKE it!
